About Zuberec
Zuberec sits in the heart of Orava, at the foot of the Roháče in the Western Tatras. Stay in private rooms, apartments, cottages or guesthouses run by locals. The village is known for the Orava Village Museum (Oravský skanzen) and as the gateway to the finest Roháče valleys.
Location
Zuberec sits in the Podtatranská brázda furrow on the edge of the Tatra National Park, 5 kilometres from the entrance to the Roháče valley. The road in runs from Habovka, and bus connections run from Trstená and Zákamenné.
Orava Village Museum
The open-air museum at Brestová near Zuberec brings together original Orava log houses, a church from Zábrežie and farm buildings. Open year-round, with a shorter route in winter.
The Roháče and their tarns
Marked trails lead from the Roháče valley to the tarns, Volovec and Ostrý Roháč. Car access to the valley is restricted in season, with a shuttle service running instead.
Skiing
The village and its surroundings have three smaller resorts - Milotín, Spálená and Janovky - good for families and beginners; Zverovka has the more demanding runs.
